The founder of Delicato through the foundation Einar Belvén and Roger Akelius, the founder of Akelius Fastigheter, donate a large sum of money to the UN refugee agency UNHCR.
Support, resources and gifts are now needed. Each gift makes a big difference for vulnerable families who are in an extremely vulnerable situation. People are fleeing for their lives from air strikes, explosions and danger to life. UNHCR leads and coordinates the work of providing protection and our field staff works around the clock to ensure that families on the run receive emergency assistance and come to safety.
As always in battle, the children are extra exposed. Reports from Ukraine speak of heavy shelling that damaged schools and water systems. When families are forced to flee, children are exposed to both the risk of physical attacks and extreme psychological strain.
In the current emergency situation, it is a matter of providing children and families with food, a roof over their heads and warm clothes, hygiene items and medicine. We have tankers with clean drinking water that follow the refugee flows and mobile health teams that provide emergency care and psychosocial support to traumatized children.

Akelius doubles fundraising for Ukraine
The Akelius Foundation will support UNICEF and Sweden for UNHCR's fundraisings by guaranteeing a doubling of the money received during the month of March. If the fundraising, for example, reaches SEK 100 million, the foundation donates the same amount via the two organizations.
- For me, this is about common humanity, if I did not do something I would be ashamed. Helping others is a strong driving force, and right now we must all help Ukraine, says Roger Akelius, founder of the Akelius Foundation.
The Einar Belvén and Delicato Foundation donates SEK 1 million to UNHCR's work on the crisis in Ukraine
Delicato Bakverk AB was founded by Einar Belvén in 1948 and when he left the management of the company more than 40 years later, he founded the Einar Belvén Foundation. The foundation's purpose is to distribute grants and scholarships to support the education of children and young people as well as the care of the elderly and sick. Einar Belvén's motto was "everyone has the right to a dignified life", something that many people on the run lack.
The UN refugee agency UNHCR is working to save lives and they are fighting for the rights of refugees. This is completely in line with the foundation's purpose and it therefore feels natural for us to continue to support their important work, says Ellinor Belvén, granddaughter of Einar Belvén and board member of the foundation and of Delicato.
- We at Delicato are extremely proud to continue to contribute to UNHCR's life-saving work where the need is greatest at the moment. Solidarity with Ukraine! says Johan Berg, CEO of Delicato.
